With more than 2,000 U.S. lawyers attending, the Association of Corporate Counsel’s 2006 annual meeting in San Diego was one of the largest gatherings of in-house counsel this year.
The Oct. 23-25 meeting at the Manchester Grand Hyatt heated up with a variety of conference topics, including attorney-client privileges, executive compensation, electronic discovery, Securities and Exchange Commission investigations, non-compete and non-disclosure agreements, global compliance, and outsourcing of legal services.
In-house counsel from business giants, including Fannie Mae, Google, Hewlett-Packard Co., Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin Corp., McDonald’s, Verizon and Wal-Mart, spoke at the conference.
Representatives from government organizations, including the SEC and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, also presented seminars.
The Association of Corporate Counsel, or ACC, serves the professional needs of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations and other private-sector organizations worldwide through continued education and encouraging advancements in the standards of corporate legal practices.
