Teradata Spins Off, Shares Rise

Teradata Corp., based in Dayton, Ohio, and with about 1,000 employees at a key site in Rancho Bernardo, was spun off Oct. 1 as an independent public company.

The company is a former subsidiary of NCR Corp., and each shareholder of NCR received one share of Teradata, now trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker TDC.

Teradata closed Oct. 1 at $27.98, and was up to $28.55 in midday trading Oct. 2.

The company that provides analytical data services to major corporations reported net income of $198 million on revenue of $1.56 billion in 2006, compared with net income of $206 million on revenue of $1.47 billion in 2005.

A truly global enterprise, Teradata has operations in 40 countries.
