San Diego businessman Ted Roth has been tapped as the new chairman of the San Diego International Sports Council.
Roth, managing director for corporate finance of Roth Capital Partners LLC, succeeds Dan Novak, vice president and general manager of Channel 4 in San Diego.
Roth serves on the boards of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Children’s Hospital and Health Center, the San Diego Padres, and the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.
The mission of the Sports Council is to promote the San Diego-Tijuana region for sporting events, spurring economic development.
The Sports Council has helped attract major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, the X Games, America’s Cup, major league baseball’s All-Star Game and the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships to the area.
Roth becomes the 35th chairman in the Sports Council’s 46-year history.
