Taxpayer Group Names Chief

Lani Lutar has been named president and chief executive officer by the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, a nonpartisan, nonprofit fiscal watchdog group.

Her appointment was announced Dec. 1.

She follows Lisa Briggs, who served in the position for two and a half years.

For the past year and a half, Lutar headed the 400-plus member Asian Business Association of San Diego as executive director. Before that, she served as a consultant to several local candidate and public affairs campaigns.

She currently serves on the board of directors of the Japan Society of San Diego & Tijuana and the Asian Business Association Foundation, as well as the advisory board of the Human Development Foundation.

Lutar, 28, earned her master’s degree in Pacific international affairs from the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UC San Diego, and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Diego State University.
