TalentFuse Staffing Agency Sold for $20M

TalentFuse, a San Diego staffing firm specializing in providing skilled workers to the technology industry, was acquired by SQL Star for about $20 million, TalentFuse said June 28.

Brian Margarita, owner and president of TalentFuse, said the acquisition will provide financial resources to better serve fast-growing technology companies with skilled workers. The firm becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of SQL, and will retain the TalentFuse name. Margarita said he will stay president.

SQL Star, a public company based in India, generated $50 million in sales last year. It has an office in San Diego, as well as Australia and Singapore.

SQL has been working as a training partner, certifying IT professionals for some of the largest technology companies in the world, including Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Red Hat.

Founded in 2001, privately held TalentFuse said it generated $1.8 million in revenue in its first full year, and last year reached $15 million in sales, Margarita said. The agency now has 200 clients in San Diego, including Qualcomm, Intuit and Invitrogen.
