Sycuan Plays Up New Theme in Ad Campaign

The casino that’s “minutes away, miles apart” is rolling out a new ad campaign that positions itself as a casino for gamers.

Sycuan Casino Director of Marketing Allan Krantz said that the casino employed San Diego advertising firm MeadsDurket to help create a new image.

After six months of market research and development, Sycuan announced the campaign June 4, shortly after the opening of its 2,200-space parking garage Memorial Day weekend. The casino is airing TV ads with the new theme.

“It’s a way to identify Sycuan with the ‘play’ button (found on slot machines),” said Krantz, calling it “a new image based on research and perceptions.”

The multimillion-dollar campaign, according to Krantz, will be shown through print, TV, radio, direct mail and Web advertising.
