Stadium Event Sends Old Electronics Out to Pasture

Folks wondering what they can do about those old televisions or PCs they’ve been hanging onto for months can dispose of the items at a free electronics recycling event Saturday, April 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium.

The event is sponsored by Cymer Inc., a locally based manufacturer of equipment used in the production of semiconductor chips, in partnership with a recycling firm.

Since 2003, electronic waste is no longer permitted to be discarded in landfills.

Among the items that will be accepted at the event are PCs and peripherals, cell phones, DVD players, VCRs, TVs, microwave ovens, and other consumer electronic goods. Not accepted are batteries of any kind, mercury-based items and fluorescent bulbs.
