Sperry Van Ness Adds 17 Advisers From Former GVA IPC Offices in San Diego

Irvine-based Sperry Van Ness expanded its commercial real estate team in San Diego with the addition of 17 advisers from GVA IPC, which closed its local offices on Aug. 1.

The team members, who specialize in the lease and sale of commercial, industrial and residential property, will join Sperry Van Ness’ University Towne Center and Carlsbad offices.

The decision to move to a new broker was led by Jay Diskin, former founder and president of GVA IPC, and Charles Currey, former principal and executive vice president of GVA IPC.

Diskin will now serve as senior vice president for Sperry Van Ness in San Diego and Currey as senior vice president and sales manager in Carlsbad.

Diskin specializes in sale and lease of office and industrial properties and investment sales. He has 27 years of commercial real estate experience.

Currey was GVA IPC’s top producing broker with 29 years of commercial real estate experience in San Diego County.

“With Sperry Van Ness’ premier marketing platform, expanded tools and resources for sales and leasing combined with the national coverage of specialists, we recognized our team will be able to provide superior value for our clients,” Diskin said.

He said he appreciates the loyalty of team members who have decided to join Sperry Van Ness.

“Our team further expands the leasing capabilities of the company beyond the investment focus that has been the strength of Sperry Van Ness in the Southern California market for over 20 years,” he said.

The local GVA affiliate was a broker-owned office of GVA Worldwide, an advisor in the commercial real estate industry with 3,500 real estate professionals in 90 markets.

With the new team, Sperry Van Ness now has more than 40 advisors locally. The firm has 900 advisors nationwide.

Seattle-based Windermere Exclusive Properties and RealBird Inc. of Redwood City announced the launch of LuxurySanDiegoEstates.com July 25.

The Web site features homes priced $2 million and up in San Diego on the multiple listing service.

“The new LuxurySanDiegoEstates.com portal is quite an improvement in terms of user friendliness and aesthetic appeal over other luxury home portals and will be a great addition to the ways we market properties,” she said in an announcement. “We hope to reach many new clients through this service.”

The site features views powered by Google maps with aerial, street or topographical maps in the environs of each home listing.

By clicking on house icon users can see a basic listing of homes and condos. A second click leads to a detailed page of the listings.
