The city of San Diego’s new land use zoning code is still fairly large at 900 pages, but briefer than the 1,200 pages it used to be.
The new code, which took effect Jan. 1, was officially approved last year after an eight-year revision process involving suggestions from citizen groups, the public, the city’s Planning Commission and the City Council.
“We are convinced the new code will eliminate considerable confusion and contradiction an be more user-friendly by reorganizing the regulations, using clearer language, adding more graphics and reducing total pages,” said Linda Johnson, the code’s program manager.
The code also is available by calling the city’s planning department or on the city’s Web site at (www.ci.san-diego.ca.us).
