Slaght Takes Executive Job

Kenneth Slaght, who led the San Diego-based Navy command known as Spawar from 2001 to 2005, is poised to take the top San Diego job for Fairfax, Va.-based Anteon Corp.

Slaght, 57, retired from the Navy as a two-star admiral Jan. 1. On Jan. 3, he started work with Anteon as a senior vice president.

Anteon’s local principal, Dan Morrisey, is retiring.

Anteon specializes in information technology, systems integration and engineering services. The company employs 600 people in San Diego and has an office in Mission Valley. In December, General Dynamics announced it was buying Anteon; the transaction is expected to close at the end of the second quarter.

Spawar is the Navy acronym for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. In his previous job, Slaght also held the title of chief engineer for FORCEnet, which refers to the Navy’s vision for network-centric warfare. Then, as now, Slaght worked in the field of C4I, that is, command, control, communications, computer and intelligence systems.
