San Diego is expected to be the No. 1 destination among Californians traveling during Labor Day weekend, according to AAA.
Of the 3 million in-state residents predicted to venture from home, nearly 80 percent will drive to their destination, slightly more than last year’s holiday.
Air travel, meanwhile, is down 2 percent, as more people still find gassing up their car for a trip less expensive than flying.
Las Vegas, the Central Coast, the Grand Canyon and San Francisco follow San Diego as preferred destinations, in that order.
