Sempra LNG Terminal Open for Business

Sempra Energy said May 15 that its liquefied natural gas terminal north of Ensenada, Mexico is ready for prime time.

The San Diego energy holding company said the $1.1 billion Baja California terminal has already received two cargoes, has successfully completed tests, and is ready for commercial operations. The Energ & #237;a Costa Azul terminal can process 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day and is fully contracted to do so. Shell International Gas Ltd. is leasing half of the terminal’s capacity. For its half of the operation, Sempra plans to bring in liquefied natural gas from Indonesia.

Sempra trades on the New York Stock Exchange as SRE. Shares were at $58.61 late in the day May 15, down 36 cents from the previous day’s close.
