Executive Spotlight: Richard Arroyo

Richard Arroyo has been named president of GVA IPC’s commercial mortgage services division. Arroyo, who has more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience, will focus on commercial income properties and commercial mortgage brokerage. Arroyo will continue to serve as principal of Baymont Capital Advisors, which he founded. His prior experience includes serving as senior vice president of Community National Bank, senior vice president of Neighborhood National Bank and principal of Triad Capital Advisors.


Kudos

H.G. Fenton Co. was honored by SatisFacts Research LLC with the National Portfolio Award for industry leadership and resident satisfaction. Benson Deng, a Waste Management employee, received a Peacemaker Award from the National Conflict Resolution Center for his problem solving and violence prevention and for his book, “They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky.” Greenhaus won Best of Show at the San Diego Ad Club’s Creative Show/ADDY Awards for a real estate campaign.


Banking and Finance

Steve DeLong has been promoted to senior vice president of California Bank & Trust. He has 20 years of banking business experience and before being promoted, he was senior relationship manager and vice president for the bank. North Island Credit Union has hired Richard Ganz as branch manager for the Carlsbad location. He has 12 years of banking experience and most recently was a branch manager for the California Coast Credit Union. ABD Insurance and Financial Services has added Jeff Watt as vice president of employee benefits. He has more than 14 years of employee benefits consulting experience and most recently was vice president of business development for the Precept Group. Christopher Tate has been promoted to vice president of Merrill Lynch’s University Towne Center office. Tate has been with the company for 3 1/2 years and has the certified financial manager designation.


Construction and Design

Ashbrook Communities has named Ken Yoshitomi senior purchasing agent. He will be responsible for construction budgets, bidding and contracting for materials and labor. Yoshitomi has more than 20 years of business management, purchasing, inventory control and contract operations experience. SGPA Architecture and Planning has added Paul DeLave as a project designer; Britta Hoskins as marketing/graphic coordinator; and Linda Henderson as construction administration secretary. Isec, Inc. has named Jeff Walker the San Diego regional manager. Walker has more than 14 years of experience in the industry and has been with Isec for 10 years.


Health Care and Biotech

Amy Chang has been promoted to vice president of strategy and operations analysis for AMN Healthcare Inc. She will lead the strategic planning as well as oversee the operations analysis group. Chang has been with the company since 2002. Previously, she was a manager at Mitchell Madison Group.


High-Tech and Manufacturing

BAE Systems has named Gene Morgan vice president of finance for its national security solutions unit. He will provide business and financial counsel. Most recently, Morgan was vice president of business operations for the company’s advanced information technologies. SeQual Technologies Inc. has named Jeffery Kerven regional sales manager for its Western region. Kerven has 16 years of medical equipment sales experience and most recently was Western regional manager for Health Care Partners. DSD Business Systems has hired Cherokee Maglione as enhancement coordinator and Lexi Rodriguez to assist with its Internet and customer service activities. Most recently, Maglione served as operations manager for Maglione Construction Co. Rodriguez was previously a business development coordinator with Active Networks, Inc. Neal Electric has promoted Brandon Hubusch to project engineer. Hubusch was a general foreman for the past nine years.


Education

Kevin Cole has been named dean of the University of San Diego School of Law. Cole joined the university in 1987 and became a tenured full professor in 1991. In 2001, he was appointed to associate dean and, since July, Cole has served as interim dean.


Government and Nonprofit

Tom Shepard & Associates, Inc. has named Kimberly Hale senior account executive in its public affairs division. For the past five years, Hale served as director of community relations for the San Diego Film Commission. Episcopal Community Services has appointed James “Jake” Young executive director. He has served as interim chief financial officer since September. Young is also a former principal at Deloitte & Touche.


Law

Amy Romaker has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as director of client service teams. She will be responsible for developing the firm’s client team program. Most recently, Romaker was director of client development for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.


Miscellaneous

Jason Cook has joined Outback Chair Co. Inc. as national account executive of pool and spa. Remodel Works Bath and Kitchens has named Gerard Cotter vice president and general manager. Cotter has many years of experience in the defense and software industries.


Real Estate

Phil Covington has joined Colliers International as managing director of real estate management services. He will oversee client relations and business development as well as direct a portfolio. Most recently, Covington was president of Sequoia Real Estate Services. The Shidler Group has promoted Michael Burer to vice president of finance. He has been with the company since 2001 and is a member of the California State Bar Association. Burnham Real Estate/Oncor International has named Eric Johnson managing director of brokerage services; and Marc Posthumus and Scott Henderson associate vice presidents. Johnson will be responsible for expanding the company’s geographic range and depth of services. Johnson has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience and most recently was senior vice president of Trammell Crow Co. Posthumus and Henderson will specialize in the sales and leasing of office and industrial properties.

Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear has been ranked as the top intellectual property law firm based in the western United States in an international survey conducted by Euromoney’s Managing Intellectual Property magazine. Barratt American has been named one of the nation’s leading homebuilders according to a customer satisfaction survey conducted by Eliant.
