Executive Spotlight: Howard Dratler
Anacomp Inc. announced the appointment of Howard Dratler as its chief executive officer.
Dratler is an executive with more than 25 years of experience in leading sales, marketing and service functions for technology companies. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of field operations for EMC/Captiva Software. Previously, he was executive vice president of field operations for Allocity, a startup targeting the e-mail application storage market.
Anacomp’s chairman, Michael Tennenbaum, said he welcomes Dratler with the confidence that he would lead the company to new market expansions and growth in the upcoming months.

San Diego National Bank announced the promotion of Rebecca Gibbs to assistant vice president and branch manager of the San Marcos office. She will continue to be responsible for the supervision of all branch employees. Gibbs started as a customer service representative in 2002, and was appointed San Marcos branch manager in 2005.
International City Bank announced the hiring of Robert Magg as senior vice president and director of the San Diego office. Magg has more than 20 years of experience in bank management, commercial lending, staff management and customer service. He has held senior-level positions at several banks, including Pacific Coast National Bank, Community National Bank, Union Bank and First Interstate Bank.

Lisa Bittner has joined C.W. Driver as the business development manager for its San Diego office. Bittner has more than seven years experience in business development and marketing in San Diego.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego has announced that Lawrence Donofrio has been appointed executive director. In his new position, Donofrio will lead financial management and strategic development for the organization. He brings 20 years of experience in corporate investment management as well as past success in leading top nonprofits. Before joining RMHC-SD, Donofrio was associate director of development for the San Diego Public Library.
Connect, a regional economic development program for life sciences innovators and entrepreneurs, has named Karen Winston program manager for the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum. Before joining Connect, Winston served as the marketing director for Jimbo’s Naturally. She also served as marketing director for the law firm of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack.
Health care and Biotech
American Life Science Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed Michael Pierschbacher as president and chief executive officer. He served most recently as senior vice president for research and development for Integra LifeScience Corp., and as the director of Integra’s corporate research center in San Diego. At ALSP, Pierschbacher plans to join the board.
Robert Atwell has joined the San Diego office of Marsh as senior vice president, sales executive. Atwell will be responsible for business development as well as helping clients evaluate and manage their risk factors. He has spent more than 30 years in the insurance and financial services industry. Most recently, he was senior vice president of national sales in the Phoenix office of BNC Corp.
Michael DeHaemer Jr. has joined Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP’s intellectual property practice area as an associate in the firm’s Carmel Valley/Del Mar office. DeHaemer specializes in the preparation and procurement of patents. Throughout his legal career, he has prepared more than 100 U.S. patents and numerous foreign patents. Previously, he was a staff attorney in Arlington, Texas, with Sidley Austin.
Media and Marketing
Andy Masur has joined the San Diego Padres radio broadcast team for the 2007 season. Masur will provide play-by-play and color commentary for Padres broadcasts on the Friars’ radio flagship, XX Sports Radio. Most recently, he served as a pre- and post-game host for the Chicago Cubs games, and was a sports anchor and reporter for WGN Radio, the Cubs’ flagship station. Masur has been the radio voice of the Loyola University men’s basketball team in Chicago since 2002.
Cerius Consulting Group has announced the appointment of three new principals to the management consulting firm.
Tom Bergmann, who has 27 years of experience in government and public and private companies, previously worked as a program manager for Advanced Communications Systems.
Marc Koehler comes to Cerius with more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. Navy, Fortune 200 and startup companies. Koehler will be leaving his current position with Siemens Inc. as vice president of program management. Previously, he co-founded Strategic Energy Processes, where he was also vice president.
David Morash has 40 years of experience in the financial and strategic arena, including running the corporate finance and business investment operations for American Can Co., a Fortune 500 company. Most recently, he worked at Axesstel, where he helped grow the company’s sales and complete an initial public offering.
Joanne Dramko has relocated to Rincon Consultants Inc.’s Carlsbad office from the Ventura branch. She serves as a planning services project manager. In Carlsbad, she will lead Rincon’s portfolio of planning projects. She is the company’s manager of graphics, geographic information systems, and visual information services.
CB Richard Ellis named Rick Sparks to the position of managing director of San Diego. In his new position, he will oversee business development and strategic planning, and manage recruitment, training and mentoring new hires for brokerage operations in the region. Sparks previously served as executive vice president of brokerage services for the San Diego region. He has been with CB Richard Ellis for more than 35 years.
Colliers International has named Michael Glavan an associate at the full-service commercial real estate firm. Glavan is a tenant representative specialist, focusing on office, research and development and industrial properties in the central San Diego markets of the Interstate 15 corridor and the Interstates 5 and 805 corridors. Before joining the San Diego office of Colliers International, Glavan was an associate with Burnham Real Estate.
