Executive Spotlight: Diane Goostree

Artes Medical Inc. has appointed Diane Goostree to president and chief executive officer as well as to the board of directors. Before the appointment, Goostree had served as president and chief operating officer of the company since March. She has more than 25 years of industry experience and most recently served as senior vice president of corporate development and operations for SkinMedica Inc. Throughout her career, Goostree has held senior positions with Elan Pharmaceuticals, Dura Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi Aventis. “We are very pleased that Diane, with her leadership and commercialization experience, will be guiding Artes Medical during the next phase of our commercial development,” said Christopher Reinhard, executive chairman of the board of directors for Artes Medical.


Construction and Design

Ken Murphy has joined Graham Downes Architecture as director of interior design. Murphy has more than 28 years of design experience with extensive knowledge of all phases of interior architecture projects. Before joining the company, Murphy owned KMA Design Inc., an interior design firm in Las Vegas.

Architects Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker has added Erin Bilz as a senior manager and designer and Alan Nations as a project architect. Bilz has 24 years of architecture industry experience and most recently served as senior interior project manager and designer for Carrier Johnson. Nations has 25 years of architecture industry experience and owned and operated Bluestone Property Inspections before joining the company.

BPA Architecture Planning Interiors has hired Milos Makaric as an architect and added Shannon Fu to its design team.

Trauner Consulting Services’ San Diego office has hired Martin Phillips as senior consultant. He will be responsible for the management and coordination of construction consulting assignments for a variety of clients. Most recently, Trauner worked for the city of Chula Vista’s Department of Engineering.


Insurance

BeneTrac has appointed Jeannie Criddle to sales director for the East Bay and Central Valley region. Most recently, Criddle served as territory sales manager for Opening Technologies Inc.


Media and Marketing

SZPR Inc. has added Kevin Dinino and Tisha Dore as account supervisors. Dinino will specialize in the strategy and implementation of public relations and investor relations campaigns. Most recently, Dinino served as manager of media and external relations for TD Ameritrade in New York.

Dore has more than 12 years of public relations experience and will focus on SZPR’s technology accounts.


Government and Nonprofit

Micah Parzen, an attorney with Luce Forward, has been elected to a two-year term as president of the board of directors of Elderhelp of San Diego. Parzen has been a member of the organization for three years and most recently served as vice president of the board of directors.

Rick Barton, partner of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, has been named chairman of the Anti-Defamation League’s National Leadership Committee. He will be responsible for leadership development and training.

The Golden Care Workforce Institute has added Robert Cohn and David Johnson to its board of directors. Cohn has 40 years of administrative experience and Johnson has 10 years of experience working in the health care and hospital settings.

Ingar Skaug, president and group chief executive officer of Wilh. Wilhelmsen, has been named chairman of the Center for Creative Leadership’s board of governors. Skaug joined the center’s board in 1991 and most recently served as its vice chairman.


Miscellaneous

Geogrid Retaining Wall Systems Inc. has named Forrest Armentrout vice president of estimating for the company’s new estimating department. Armentrout joined the company in 1985 as a sales representative.

Ed Schwartz has been named Brecht BMW’s sales manager. He joined Brecht in 1994 and, for the past five years, has served as a sales adviser, lease and portfolio manager.

The San Diego Welcome Back Center has added Amaliya Blyumin as an educational case manager and career counselor and Lorena Quiroz as an educational case manager and program assistant. Blyumin will be responsible for assisting Russian and Turkish immigrants who worked in health care in other countries with career plans of transitioning into California’s health care work force. Quiroz will focus on counseling and educational guidance to internationally trained health care professionals.

Avalon Techmaster Equipment Corp. has promoted Stephen McIlhon from a consultant to chief operating officer.

Tatum has promoted Mark Neilson to associate managing partner of the firm’s San Diego office. Most recently, Neilson served as chief financial officer for Towne Air Flight Inc.


Real Estate

Robert Weichelt has joined Re/Max Associates’ Rancho San Diego office as an in-house lender with Teamwork Mortgage. Weichelt will provide direct access mortgage lending services and support, both as a mortgage broker and mortgage banker.

Rich Kushner and Lauren Penley have joined Re/Max Associates’ Distinctive Properties office as real estate sales agents.

Re/Max Direct in Ramona has added Monica Kelly as a commercial real estate agent.
