Sycuan Casino has promoted Anita Bye to director of community development. Bye has been employed at the casino for three years. Last year alone Bye managed more than $3 million in charitable donations to the community. She created and is in charge of Sycuan’s volunteer programs throughout San Diego. Bye also serves on the board of directors of the East County Chamber of Commerce and the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County.

Torrey Pines Bank has hired Patrick Tropio as vice president and relationship manager. Tropio will be based out of the bank’s headquarters in Carmel Valley and will oversee business development. Most recently, Tropio was managing director of First Republic Bank.
Education
The College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University has named Erica Bouris its special sessions director. She has been with the university for two years as director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and, more recently, as director of the teacher education program.
Government and Nonprofit
Mayor Jerry Sanders has appointed Cathy DeStefano, who is executive director of the Citizen Diplomacy Council of San Diego, to the International Affairs Board. The board works to foster relationships among residents of San Diego and citizens of foreign nations.
Health care and Biotech
Scripps Green Hospital has appointed Michael P. Kosty medical director of the Green Cancer Center. Kosty has been with Scripps since 1989 and is the director of both the graduate medical education and hematology/oncology fellowship programs. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, where he served as chairman of the genitourinary malignancies program committee.
Timothy Strouse II has joined the Internal Medicine Department at Sharp Rees-Stealy Chula Vista. He graduated from Chicago Medical School and completed his internship and residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.

The Meeting Manager has hired Lauryn Hudson as director of sales. She will be responsible for working with association clients and developing programs and concepts for local events.
Insurance
Artisans Insurance has named John Mohns president of Benchmark Landscape. He recently served as Artisans’ executive committee chairman of the underwriting committee, as well as secretary and vice president. Artisans is an alternative insurance cooperative.
Hoffman Hanono Insurance Services has hired Michael Dullea as a commercial lines producer. He worked as a loan consultant from 2001 to 2008.
Law
Karen Dow has joined the San Diego office of DLA Piper. Her focus will be life sciences patent prosecution, opinion and licensing.
Foley & Lardner has welcomed 10 new attorneys and one patent specialist, all formerly of Heller Ehrman. David Kleinfeld, Dan Silverman, Chad Fuller and Barry Tucker will join Foley’s Litigation Department, while Kurt Kjelland will join the Intellectual Property Department. Also joining the firm are Steve Moore, Sam Hellfeld, Richard Thill, Nicole Cunningham, Tammy Boggs and Bob Palmer.
Sullivan, Hill, Lewin, Rez & Engel has hired attorney Larry Campitiello. His practice concentration will be business litigation with an emphasis in commercial and real estate disputes. Campitiello graduated cum laude from Loyola Marymount University.

Bailey Gardiner has hired Jennifer Williams as account director. She will oversee the account management staff and all advertising clients while contributing to strategy and creative management. Linda Peralta has been named director of marketing at KBM Building Services. She is responsible for managing KBM’s most recent marketing campaign as well as overall strategy. She received her degree from Sonoma State University.

Macias Consulting Group has hired Michael VanBruaene as consulting manager at its San Diego office. His responsibilities include process improvement, risk assessment, financial and administrative controls, and organizational evaluation.
Chris Hudson has been hired as vice president of purchasing and inventory control at Hydro-Scape, a landscape and irrigation supplies company. He will manage purchasing and inventory operations for their 17 locations in Southern California and two in Hawaii.
