Executive Spotlight: Lane Caruso
Lane Caruso has joined Intercare Insurance Solutions as senior vice president. In her new role, Caruso will oversee all of Intercare’s account management and client services activities. Caruso has more than 20 years of experience in corporate benefits management with Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Intercare, she was senior vice president for Bank of America.

Bailey Gardiner has added senior Web developer Ivan Prokic and graphic designer Sarah Poore. Prokic has extensive knowledge of Flash development and multimedia design. Poore will assist in the graphic design, production and art direction for Bailey Gardiner clients.
The Public Relations Society of America has elected five board members to help lead the local chapter in 2008. New members include Greg Block, vice president, Benedetto Communications Inc.; Reema Makani, public relations specialist, San Diego Medical Services Enterprise; Bey-Ling Sha, assistant professor, San Diego State University; Don Stanziano, director of corporate relations, Scripps Health; and Tricia Whittemore, senior account executive, Porter Novelli.
Ashley White has joined Heyin & Associates as an intern account coordinator.
UC San Diego has appointed Gary Mathews vice chancellor of resource management and planning. Mathews has more than 30 years’ experience in higher education and has served in numerous leadership positions focusing on university governance.
Terry Grier was appointed as superintendent of schools by the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education. Grier currently serves as superintendent for the Guilford County School District in Greensboro, N.C.
Charles Kuhn has joined SCS Engineers as project manager. Kuhn has more than 18 years of experience in the solid waste industry.

Christopher Hawkins of the law firm Sullivan Hill Lewin Rez & Engel has been sworn in as vice president of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum. Hawkins was elected to its board in 2007.
The Otay Water District board has re-elected its current slate of officers. Gary Croucher was re-elected as president, Jose Lopez was re-elected as vice president and Jaime Bonilla will continue to serve as treasurer.
U.S. Postal Service San Diego has promoted Les Ford to sales specialist-package services. Ford will focus on working with companies in San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties.
The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce has announced that Michael Robinson has been named its new president and CEO. Robinson has most recently served as president and CEO of the Vail, Colo., Valley Partnership.
Valley View Casino has hired chef Chip McCarty as room chef for its Black & Blue Steakhouse. McCarty has more than 16 years of culinary experience. Prior to joining the team at Valley View Casino, McCarty served as executive chef at the Prime Ten Steakhouse in Del Mar.
Howard Barnhost, an attorney with the San Diego firm Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek, was elected to the board of the San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care Corp. and San Diego Hospice Foundation Inc. Barnhost focuses his practice on business transactions, including contacts, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, international trade and business litigation.
Duane Morris LLP has named James Sze as partner. Sze practices intellectual property law as a tool for business growth. He also handles portfolio management and counsels high-technology clients on intellectual property matters.
LEAD San Diego has elected five new trustees to its board: Bill Trumpfheller, Neffer Smith Tucker; Jon Bailey, Bailey Gardiner and Associates; Dan Murphy, Barney and Barney; Trace Wilson, Westfield LLC; and Rosana Herrera Ortega.

The San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance has elected a new board. Debbie Lousber will serve as president, VoegeEtte Koltz will serve as secretary, Andrea Littlejohn will serve as treasurer, Elizabeth Fried will serve as vice president of marketing, Michael Mark will serve as vice president of professional development, and Rachel Pradhan will serve as vice president of technology.
Erin Gillooly has joined Grubb & Ellis|BRE Commercial’s marketing and business development group as public relations manager. Prior to joining Grubb & Ellis, Gillooly served as community relations representative for The Corky McMillin Cos.
Trigild has added two new members to its executive team: Greg Jabin, director of business development, and Kim Cody, director of special projects. Jabin will work to develop new business relationships. Cody will focus on asset management services for unfinished construction projects.

Sarah Kotlova has joined Geary Interactive as a strategic planner. Kotlova comes to Geary with an impressive background working with Anheuser-Busch, Johnson & Johnson and Kellogg. Geary Interactive has also promoted Kevin Hawke to managing director. Hawke has been with Geary for more than two years. He was previously the account service manager.
Nirvanix has announced the addition of Daniel Havens as vice president of sales and Craig Halliwell as senior director of alliances. Havens and Halliwell will focus on expanding the Nirvanix storage delivery network to support products in the consumer electronics market.
