Graham Downes Architecture has announced the addition of Michael Scott as a senior project manager. Scott has more than 25 years of national and international experience in the architectural design industry.
He will be responsible for coordinating the firm’s project managers and assisting on daily architectural and design tasks. He will also be responsible for implementing office standards and quality control measures designed to guide reorganization of the company.
Chadd Mertz has joined Schubach Aviation as chief pilot. Mertz will be responsible for pilot hiring, training, standardization and evaluation. Mertz has 11 years of aviation experience.
Ken Piland has joined Schubach Aviation as the manager of the company’s new avionics division. Piland has more than 15 years of aviation experience.

San Diego National Bank has said that Phil Gibbs has been named branch manager of the downtown office. Gibbs will be responsible for the operations of the branch, developing new business and managing staff.
Michelle Chavarria has been named branch manager of Point Loma Credit Union’s Corona office. Chavarria has experience in marketing, operations, sales and service of credit unions.
Construction and Design
NTD Architecture has announced the promotions of Phillip Soule III and Steven Stokes to principal. Both joined the firm’s health care practice in 2006. Soule has 21 years and Stokes has 18 years of experience.
Naomi Oreskes has been appointed to serve as provost of UC San Diego’s Sixth College. Oreskes’ research focuses on the historical development of scientific knowledge, methods and practices in Earth and environmental services.
Nolte Associates Inc. has announced the addition of Jeffrey Safford as survey manager in its San Diego office. Safford has more than 30 years’ experience in field and office aspects of land surveying.
Russell Kikkert has joined SCS Engineers as a project scientist. Kikkert will focus on analytical data review and compliance reporting.

The San Diego County Apartment Association has announced its 2008 board of directors. Linda Morris will serve as president; Richard Snyder will serve as president-elect; Kerry Webster will be vice president; Karen Murphy Gross will be secretary; Robert Kevane will serve as treasurer; and Todd Wells will serve as legislative chair.
Redro Suarez has been appointed to the board of directors of STC.UNM, a nonprofit corporation formed and owned by the University of New Mexico. Suarez will serve a four-year term beginning in 2008.

Victoria Lister has joined the Centre for Health Care as chief executive officer. Lister has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry.
Valley View Casino has announced the promotion of Adam Saks to director of restaurant services. Saks oversees operations at all three of Valley View Casino’s restaurants, Black & Blue;, The Buffet and BLD’s Caf & #233;, and more than 200 food and beverage teams.
Katherine Bacal, an attorney with Baker & McKenzie LLP, has been appointed San Diego County Superior Court judge. Bacal is president of the Lawyers Club of San Diego and has served on the San Diego Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
Fisher & Phillips has announced the election of Amy Lessa to partner. Lessa has nine years’ experience practicing administrative and civil employment matters before state and federal courts and government agencies.
Sandra Grow has been elected to serve as the 2009 president of the California Landscape Contractors Association. Grow has 14 years of experience in the landscape contracting industry. Neb Keeton has been elected to the 2008 board of directors of the association. Keeton will assist the San Diego chapter with coordinating educational seminars on new irrigation equipment and the annual gold tournament and awards program, along with membership.
Ciralight has announced the addition of Tom Jackse as regional manager for its Southern California office. Jackse will be responsible for marketing products to the manufacturing and industrial communities in Southern California looking to “go green.”
Mary Lydon has joined Willow Glen Farm, a project of the San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project, as a fund-raising consultant. Lydon is the executive director of the Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana District Council.
David Stapleton has joined HomeFed Corp. as manager of acquisitions. Stapleton brings experience in financial analysis and complex property acquisitions.

Red Door Interactive has announced the additions of Jennifer Emmons and Brooks Gregg. Emmons will serve as an associate business manager, while Gregg will work as a senior project manager. Emmons comes to the company from DrJays.com in New York, where she served as business development manager. Gregg has nine years of marketing program and project management expertise.
Debi Preece has joined Vector Resources as general manager of the San Diego office. Preece has more than 20 years of professional experience in voice and data.
Ortiva Wireless has announced the addition of Marc Zionts as chief executive officer. Zionts will be responsible for directing growth initiatives to expand market share in the United States and abroad.
Terry Kinninger has joined Imagine Communications as chief financial officer. Kinninger brings broad executive experience in emerging private and publicly traded companies.
