SAIC Forges Ahead With Multi-Billion-Dollar Logistics Deal

SAIC has begun work on a contract potentially worth $6.2 billion to perform supply chain management for the Department of Defense.

The contract was originally awarded on May 2, but according to SAIC, a protest was filed. SAIC, also known as Science Applications International Corp., said it was informed Aug. 15 that it could proceed after the Government Accountability Office denied the protest.

SAIC will manage and monitor logistics such as order processing, quality control, procurement and distribution for the Department of Defense’s chemicals, packaged petroleum, oils and lubricants.

The contract, with the Defense Supply Center in Richmond, Va., has a five-year base term and another five-year option period.
