Northrop Grumman’s Ryan Aeronautical Center is flying into the North County.
Ryan Aeronautical, which has been at its current site near Lindbergh Field for decades, will relocate to Rancho Bernardo this spring, taking with it 400 employees.
Northrop Grumman, which purchased Ryan for $140 million last summer, vowed to move the aerospace company to another location that best fit its needs.
The new Rancho Bernardo facility, on Goldentop Road, will serve as the management, engineering and systems integration headquarters of Northrop Grumman’s unmanned aerial vehicles business.
Ryan Aeronautical, which used to manufacture the fuselage for the Apache helicopter in San Diego, now concentrates on the production of UAV’s such as the Global Hawk, and BQM-34 Firebee aerial target systems.
