Report Tallies Cost of Living

As if San Diegans needed any more evidence it costs way too much to live here, a new report by the Center for Policy Initiatives, a local nonprofit think tank, provides further data about the escalating price of living here.

The report, Making Ends Meet, details the costs of basic living expenses, including food, shelter and clothing as well as the family incomes needed to pay for these essentials.

Among the findings are:

– Two working parents of two school-age children require a combined annual income of at least $54,298 to provide for the bare essentials.

– A single mother with an infant needs to earn at least $18.12 per hour.
