Architects Drafted: Two local architectural firms were recently selected to design county public library facilities.
Manuel Ocina Architects Inc. of San Diego was named early this month to design the new Cardiff branch of the county library at Newcastle Avenue and Liverpool Drive. Pam Slater, a county supervisor, said construction would start in the fall.
The 5,000-square-foot, $2.5 million facility will replace a 3,172-square-foot library in a nearby rented retail store.
The Solana Beach-based McCulley Group was retained to design the San Diego County Library Administration Center at 5555 Overland Ave. earlier this month. Renovation and modernization is planned for the 21,000-square-foot building, said John McCulley, principal-in-charge.
The company will provide both interior design and display graphic services for the project.
