Roel Construction Co. completed the structural concrete portion for Vancouver, British Columbia-based Bosa Development’s Horizons Marina project.
The mixed-use facility will provide 194 condominium units housed in twin 25-story towers. Eight two-story townhomes and nine condominiums will also be located above 13,400 square feet of street-level retail space units and underground parking for 330 cars.
Amenities for residents will include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, conference room, office center and social lounge. The site is bordered by Island Avenue, Market Street, Front Street and First Avenue in Downtown San Diego. The project is expected to be completed this month.
“The design of the complex aims to contribute to the livability and residential character of the Marina District and will create an exciting new energy,” said a Bosa spokesman. “It will be a pleasant landmark in the life of this neighborhood.”
Roel’s structural concrete group poured more than 42,000 cubic yards of concrete for the project. Horizons Marina is the largest concrete building project done in San Diego in the last 30 years, according to Roel.
R.G. Petty Construction is overseeing tenant improvements at the Mission Valley Heights office and commercial complex. The project includes two concrete tilt-up buildings which total 33,000 square feet located at 7406 and 7436 Mission Valley Road. The developer is H.G. Fenton Co. The Titan Corp. has leased both buildings. Major subcontractors include Demko Drywall, L.W. Secor, Safeway Electric and R.L. Fick & Son Plumbing.
The improvements are expected to be completed by April.
Petty is also under way with construction of an 80,934-square-foot, two story tilt-up building at 9381 Judicial Drive in the Golden Triangle Research Center. The development includes a subterranean parking garage and a glass curtain wall system with blue high-performance glass.
The company also is working on a 151,480-square-foot technology center at Thormont Road and Wesamint Street. The building was designed by Turpit & Potter Architects.
Pacific General Construction of San Diego recently completed a Burger King restaurant located at 14136 Olde Highway 80 in Lakeside. The project included the ground-up construction of the 3,200-square-foot facility. The Restaurant Administration of San Diego was the project developer.
The project team included all locally based firms. Architects were Schuss & Clark, drywall specialists came from Pacific Interior Systems, GA Rogers Enterprises completed acoustic ceilings, D.A. Witacre did framing, REM Mechanical completed HVAC, JMJ Electric, Persky Plumbing and West Coast Fire Protection were all members of the team.
Ware & Malcomb Architects have started converting a 60,600-square-foot industrial building located at 15822 Bernardo Center Drive in Rancho Bernardo into office space.
The project includes fa & #231;ade upgrades to create new entry elements, increase parking capability and update landscaping. Peterbuilt Corp. has been hired as general contractor for the project. Completion is expected by April.
Tenant improvements for Bada Bing Pizzeria of San Marcos has been completed by Duggan Construction, Inc., Irvine-based Commercial Kitchen Specialists, AcousticWorks and Ceiling Specialties, Inc. of Escondido, REM Mechanical of San Marcos and Consolidated Fire Protection of Carlsbad also worked on the project.
Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has completed construction of the $25 million offices for Cymer, Inc. located at 17075 Thornmint Court in Rancho Bernardo. The development included a three-story, 135,000-square-foot customer operations facility, adjacent parking structure, amphitheater, basketball and volleyball courts.
Jossy+Carrier Design Group has completed programming, space planning, interior design and furniture specifications for the 10,398-square-foot offices of Aerocast, Inc. The one-story office park is located at 5744 Pacific Center Blvd. in Sorrento Mesa.
The new space houses software labs for the engineering department and general offices for marketing, human resources, finance, operations and engineering.
The company also designed the common areas for One America Plaza located at 600 W. Broadway in Downtown San Diego. The project included interior design, construction documents and contract administration for remodeled elevator lobbies and corridors.
Howard Sneed Architecture & Design announced that its construction of the 12,325-square-foot corporate headquarters of Enterprise Partners Venture Capital is 50 percent complete. The project entails renovation of the third floor of the existing building, and incorporating use of butt-joint glazing to provide a transparent work environment between private and open office areas. The project is located at 2223 Avenida de la Playa in La Jolla.
Tenant improvements have been completed for the 7,950-square-foot satellite law office of Latham & Watkins at 12636 High Bluff Drive in Carmel Valley. Johnson & Jennings General Contracting finished remodeling a portion of the building and demolishing and rebuilding another part. Subcontractors included Caldwell Glass, Interior Specialties, Progressive Electric, Trane Co. and Montbleau & Associates.
Johnson & Jennings was also awarded a $9 million contract for improvements to the offices of Cooley Godward LLP in the Sunroad Corporate Centre at 4435 Eastgate Mall in the Golden Triangle. Howard Sneed Architecture & Design is serving as the interior architect. Completion is scheduled for July.
Stepstone Real Estate Services awarded Bilbro Construction Co. a contract valued at $600,000 to complete tenant improvements for John Burnham & Co. Insurance, located in the Symphony Towers at 750 B St., Suite 2400 in Downtown San Diego.
The project includes demolition of the existing offices, rebuilding and upgrading the facility.
