Nielsen Dillingham Builders Working on New Labs at Cal Poly Pomona
Florham Park, N.J.-based Gale & Wentworth has started the second phase of construction of two buildings for two separate headquarters and R & D; facilities totaling 150,000 square feet for both buildings at the Carlsbad Corporate Center.
The new buildings will include fiber-optic service availability, dock-high truck doors and 24-foot height clearance.
“The two new facilities offer excellent exposure and access as well as the amenities that tenants are seeking in the marketplace,” said Patrick Murphy, managing partner of Gale & Wentworth California.
The 560-acre Carlsbad Corporate Center already houses corporate headquarters of Callaway Golf Co., Isis Pharmaceuticals, Taylor Made-adidas Golf, Ashworth Inc., and Upper Deck Co.
KMA Architecture and Engineering is the project’s architects and Keeton Construction of Temecula is the general contractor. Coldwell Banker Commercial is the leasing agent for the corporate center.
San Diego-based Nielsen Dillingham Builders is working on the construction of phase two of the Engineering Laboratory Replacement Project at California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
The $20 million, 117,900-square-foot project consists of the construction of a two-story building with engineering labs, classrooms and offices.
The campus will remain operational during the construction period. The new two-story building will be completed this summer and the overall project is scheduled for fall of 2002 completion.
Additional work on the project involves tenant improvements, demolition of a building, asbestos removal and installation of new mechanical and electrical systems.
Design consultants include Omaha, Neb.-based architect Leo A. Daly; Newport Beach-based Boyle Engineering for civil engineering; and Santa Monica-based Carter Romanek for landscape architect engineering.
Among the subcontractors are Helix Electric. On the San Ramon Regional Medical Center campus in San Ramon, Calif., Nielsen Dillingham Builders also has completed construction of the new San Ramon Medical Plaza.
The $12 million project is a two-story, 17,000-square-foot medical office and an outpatient surgery center including six operating rooms, a pre-operative and recovery area, a patient family waiting lounge and a business office.
Major subcontractors include Bergelectric, A.O. Reed, U.S. Glass, Galetti Concrete, Stockton Iron Works and Carone and Co.
San Diego-based Johnson and Jennings General Contracting started improvement work on the offices of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves and Savitch, LLP, a law firm.
An additional office expansion of 8,950 square feet on the 19th floor of the Union Bank of California building at 530 B St. in Downtown, is planned as well. Currently, the law firm’s offices are on the eighth and 20th through 23rd floors of the building.
The construction will use Dakota mahogany stone flooring and cherrywood and granite transaction tops in 12 custom-designed secretarial stations. The project completion is scheduled in July 2001. Howard Sneed Architecture were the architects and Space Matter oversaw the construction.
The subcontractors include Martin and Lewis Drywall, Dulles, Va.-based Dynalectric, American Marble of Houston, Wageman Co., Inc., and North County Acoustics.
San Elijo Hills Information Center in San Marcos was completed last month by San Diego-based Roel Construction.
The 7,000-square-foot building will serve as the information center of San Elijo Hills, a 2,000-acre master-planned community. The 3,000-home communities are being developed by Western Pacific Housing of El Segundo, Colrich Communities, Shea Homes San Diego and Richmond-American of Denver.
Carlsbad-based San Elijo Construction Co. is the prime contractor and Solana Beach-based CaseGroup Architects oversaw the architectural portion of the project.
Local subcontractors include Project Design Consultants, Rock Enterprises, Applied Waterproofing, Western Insulation, Challenger Sheet Metal, Northwest Window Works, Airgas, Schmidt Fire Protection, Paul Hansen Equipment, D.A. Whitacre Construction, Horizon Painting, L.W. Secor Inc., Electrical Contracting, Inc., Kuske Co., H.L. Masonry Builders, San Diego Construction Welding, Innovative Construction, Spooner’s Building Products, West Coast Drywall, LaRussa-Ghianni, East County & Tile, KMP Plumbing and Regal Cleaning.
Hope Engineering of San Diego announced the completion of the structural steel framing project for the two, three-story buildings totaling 60,000 square feet each on the campus of Monarch at Scripps Ranch.
A 47,000 square-foot parking garage will also be built to accommodate up to 300 vehicles.
The project is being developed by San Diego-based Monarch at Scripps Ranch, L.L.C. and will be completed later this year.
The contractor is Swinerton & Walberg; Smith Consulting Architects is the architect on the project.
A six-story, 122,800-square-foot Class A office building at Seaview Corporate Center in Sorrento Mesa was completed last month by Tucson-based Sundt Construction Inc.
The architect for the project is GAA Architects of Irvine. Structural engineering was handled by Brandow & Johnston Associates’ Newport Beach offices.
