Qualcomm Inc., the San Diego-based cell phone technology company, said Oct. 25 that it has committed $1.5 million to support relief efforts after the San Diego County fires.
The company made immediate donations of $100,000 each to the regional chapter of the American Red Cross and to Volunteer San Diego.
Over the next several weeks, the company said, it will direct $1.3 million to various organizations providing fire relief and recovery efforts. Money will come from Qualcomm’s corporate giving program, employee matching grant program and donations in recognition of employee volunteer efforts.
In addition, the company is offering technical help and resources to the 2-1-1 San Diego Web site and call center. The 2-1-1 system offers nonemergency information.
