Wireless technology company Qualcomm Inc. announced Aug. 18 that it is buying a San Diego company called Qualphone, paying $18 million cash.
Qualphone specializes in software for mobile devices, specifically Internet protocol-based multimedia subsystems. Isaac Eteminan is president and chief executive officer of Qualphone, which has offices in Rancho Bernardo and fewer than 100 employees. No reduction in head count is expected.
Qualphone previously did contract software development for Qualcomm.
The transaction was expected to close by the end of the month.
