San Diego-based chip-maker Qualcomm Inc. announced the appointment of Sanjay Jha to the position of chief operating officer Dec. 13. Additionally, the company announced it has hired Len Lauer to the positions of corporate executive vice president and group president overseeing key divisions.
Jha, who will remain president of Qualcomm’s chip-making unit, will oversee corporate research and development as well as Qualcomm Flarion technologies.
Lauer was formerly chief operating officer for Sprint Nextel and, in his new role, will oversee Qualcomm’s wireless business solutions, MEMS technologies, government technologies and the company’s mobile TV subsidiary, MediaFlo USA. Lauer will report directly to Qualcomm President Steven Altman.
Qualcomm is traded on the Nasdaq as QCOM and closed Dec. 12 at $38.87, down 6 cents from the previous session.
