Local members of Financial Women International recently teamed up with Suits You San Diego for a good cause.
The organization of women employed in the financial industry donated 504 items of women’s dress clothing and a check for $275 to Suits You San Diego, a charity designed to help women re-entering the job marketplace who are in need of professional attire.
The money was raised through a raffle and will go to buy shoes that will coordinate with the donated outfits, said Jana Billings, president of the local chapter of Financial Women International.
Suits You San Diego founder Sylvia Evans-McKinney was presented with the funds and clothing at a holiday banquet last month, said Billings.
“Part of our mission statement is that we empower women to attain their professional, economic and personal goals,” said Billings, who is also a vice president at El Cajon-based Valle de Oro Bank. “It ties in with what Sylvia is trying to do to help these women get back into the work force.”
