Nuera Takes Its Tech to the South

Nuera Communications Inc., a San Diego designer and maker of equipment used in voice over Internet protocol telecom networks, said it recently won three purchase orders from new customers, all of them small regional cable companies.

The three new customers are ETC in north Georgia, Troy Cable in Alabama and Panhandle Telephone Cooperative Inc. in Oklahoma.

Nuera has more than 70 customers for its products, including some of the largest telecoms and corporations in the world, such as Nortel Networks, General Electric, Cox Communications and Comcast Cable.

Last year, privately held Nuera reported $20 million in revenues, up 40 percent from the prior year. The company did not reveal earnings but did turn a profit for the first time in its nine-year history last year, said spokesman Craig Lee.
