A longtime Republican Party insider, Gerald Parsky is chairman of Aurora Capital Group, a Los Angeles-based investment firm that buys and sells middle market companies with sales between $150 million and $1 billion.
This year, Parsky cashed out of one investment in Aftermarket Technology Corp., based in Illinois, selling his stock for more than $101.6 million, the same firm in which he had invested about $70 million in 2004, netting him about $32 million.
Known for his prowess as a moneyman, Parsky was the Republican Party’s head of fund raising for the 1996 presidential campaign of Sen. Robert Dole. He’s also held top regional posts in the 2000 and 2004 campaigns of President Bush. In the last election year cycle, he contributed $59,188 to various Republican causes, including the Republican National Committee.
Parsky also serves as the chairman of the regents of the University of California and has served on that board since 1996.
He also served as an assistant secretary of the Treasury Department from 1974 to 1977.
