Robert Hartman, a Jamul resident and a firefighter in City Heights, is the grand-prize winner of a new $700,000 John Laing home in San Diego’s first “House for House” program for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego.
Hartman, a married father of two school-age children, hasn’t decided whether he’ll choose the house in 4S Ranch just west of Rancho Bernardo, or the $620,000 cash option.
Raising more than $1.5 million, the summer-long raffle contest was the largest fund-raising initiative in the charity’s 25-year history. The House for House program will help fund a new, larger Ronald McDonald House, which provides refuge for families with seriously ill children.
