The Navy said it completed a watershed test with its electromagnetic rail gun on Jan. 31. San Diego-based General Atomics is a subcontractor on the advanced technology weapon, which reportedly fired a projectile with a record amount of muzzle energy: 10 megajoules. The test took place at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va.
