Money-Making Scenery

San Diego County’s many attractions , some seen here , along with its sunny and hospitable climate has made tourism the region’s third largest industry, generating nearly $5 billion in local revenues each year and employing 150,000 residents. This year May has been dedicated as Tourism Month in recognition of the significant impact the industry has on the greater San Diego region. The celebration begins with the 7th annual San Diego Hospitality Industry Outlook luncheon on May 1 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines and continues throughout the month with a series of special events. Seen here, from top to bottom, are Legoland California, the county’s newest theme attraction, a local beach crowd enjoying the Southern California sun, and sailing on San Diego Bay.
