Mile of Cars Losing San Diego Dodge

Showing effects of the automobile industry downturn, San Diego Dodge of National City is going out of business.

Lane Pierson, who owns the company, declined to comment. However, the company’s Web site thanks customers for 17 years of business and states that the dealership will close its doors on Nov. 30.

The site also says that San Diego Dodge has “hundreds of new and used cars that must be liquidated.” But it gives nearby McCune Chrysler Jeep’s phone number.

While the San Diego Dodge Web site refers customers to McCune for service and body shop needs, McCune is apparently also handling transactions and financing arrangements for San Diego Dodge’s vehicle liquidation. Both dealerships are located on National City Boulevard.

The news comes concurrently with Pearson Ford of San Diego announcing it will merge with Kearny Mesa Ford, part of Sunroad Automotive, change its name to Kearny Pearson Ford and operate at the Kearny Mesa Ford site on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

It’s unknown how many employees will be affected by the closure of San Diego Dodge and the merger of the two Ford dealerships.
