Microsoft Corp. announced Dec. 4 that it has filed 30 complaints against companies and individuals that are allegedly selling pirated software. One of the companies, Delta4 Services, is based in Spring Valley.
Representatives of Delta4 said by e-mail that they have not been selling Microsoft software for “many months.”
As of midday on Dec. 4, Delta4’s Web site, www.d4sales.com, offered Windows XP Professional for $132.95 and Microsoft Office Suite 2003 for $221.95. The offers were removed from the Web site later in the day.
To authenticate Microsoft software for your company or personal computer, Microsoft has a Web site at www.microsoft.com/genuine. Users may visit the Web site and click the buttons labeled “validate Windows” and “validate Office,” where a small program can be downloaded to determine the authenticity of the operating system and program suite.
