Desktop Design: The First Step in Ordering Signs
The signs all point to the Internet for at least one San Diego company.
Readysigns.com launched what it claims is the “world’s first online sign company” in February. Businesses can order dimensional letter and number signs for indoor or outdoor use.
Following step-by-step online instructions, customers can select type style, color, size, thickness and materials to create their own sign.
Clients receive the sign, mounting materials and directions to install the sign in five days or less.
“We designed our online sign ordering system for people who have never purchased a sign before and are not necessarily Internet savvy, but rather have an immediate need for corporate or retail signage,” said Ian Robson, creator and CEO of the company.
The first order was received four hours after Readysigns.com went online and the company has been busy ever since, he said.
The company was formed last year and is a subsidiary of 12-year-old Gray Whale Graphics, a local, full-service sign shop.
Since its inception, Gray Whale’s business for three-dimensional letter signs has increased from 10 percent to 90 percent, which spurred the formation of the ‘Net venture, Robson said.
