Editor:
On behalf of the executive directors of the Council of Community Clinics, I am writing to wish Dr. Robert K. Ross best wishes in his new endeavor as the president and CEO of The California Endowment.
In his seven years as director of the county Health and Human Services Agency, Dr. Ross has proven to be a compassionate and committed advocate for expanding access to health care for uninsured San Diegans.
San Diego is in a real crises in terms of providing access to affordable, quality health care services for its 645,000 uninsured residents. Dr. Ross has provided consistent leadership in addressing this issue and has remained open to new ideas that would help mend our fraying health care safety net.
His support and willingness to listen and collaborate with community leaders and consumer advocates will be sorely missed.

Supporting the Schools
Editor:
In this time when we hear so many negative things about professional sports teams, how refreshing it is to be able to point to the San Diego Chargers as an organization that is supportive of schools and school programs.
Montgomery High School has an award-winning journalism program that includes a photography class and lab. Thanks to the Chargers organization we have received a photo enlarger for our program.
This piece of equipment will be put to very good use by our students and is a welcome supplement to aging equipment.
We thank the Chargers for their generosity and appreciate their focus on youth.
