Legoland Hits Bricks to Find Builder

After announcing the largest expansion in Legoland California’s seven-year history, the Carlsbad theme park is going on a seven-city tour spanning the country in search of someone to join its master builders team, expecting thousands of adults to respond to the challenge.

“Pirate Shores opens this summer with four new water play attractions,” said Legoland spokeswoman Julie Estrada. “This addition requires incredible minds who can help create the whimsical and charismatic Lego models that delight our guests.”

The current team of model-builders design, build and maintain the more than 15,000 Lego models contained in the 128-acre theme park. Candidates applying for the job opening are given a 10-pound bucket full of assorted Lego play materials and have one hour to create a model on a requested theme.

The nationwide search kicks off on Presidents Day weekend at Legoland, Feb. 18-20. Focusing on the Art Institutes, a system of 32 educational institutions across the country, the schools will be the official host location in each of the search cities including: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, New York City, Dallas and Chicago.
