Rear Adm. Terry Etnyre will relieve Vice Adm. Tim LaFleur as commander, Naval Surface Forces, on March 4 in ceremonies on-board the USS Belleau Wood at Naval Station San Diego.
LaFleur, 55, has announced he will retire after a 34-year Navy career.
Etnyre most recently worked as commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
Etnyre’s new job involves the manning, training and equipping of all surface forces. The admiral who holds the job serves concurrently as commander, Naval Surface Force, Pacific Fleet.
The command maintains offices at the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base on Coronado’s Silver Strand.
