Do you hate the hassle of bringing your car in for an oil change? A Carlsbad-based company hopes to make a niche for itself by bringing the oil change out to your car.
Kargoil uses a service fleet of “mobile lube vehicles” to do maintenance on cars parked at work, bringing the service to high-traffic areas such as Sorrento Valley.
It eliminates the stress employees may face when they have to go out and run that time-consuming errand during lunch, said Matt McFarland, CEO of Kargoil.
The oil-change service is a great help to employers as well as employees, he said.
“Employers love us because we offer their employees a convenient and innovative service,” McFarland said. “By offering them on-site car services, you are giving your employees the opportunity to spend their free time doing things they want to do.”
Kargoil started up in September, conducting research as it sought to determine not only whether there was a market for such a service, but also how to comply with all the environmental regulations for such an enterprise, he said.
The service “went live” in April. Since then, they’ve acquired Wells Fargo, Mayflower and Vista-based Orlimar Golf Equipment Co. as clients, McFarland said.
Prices start at $19.99 for the basic service, he said. This includes the charge for recycling the used oil, and all other environmental charges. No oil is spilled into the parking lot where Kargoil works, he said.
