The U.S. Department of Labor will host 120 veterans’ job fairs in 31 states including one in San Diego this month. The Department of Labor’s HireVetsFirst job fair is Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium.
U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao said employers value the qualities America’s service members are known for: discipline, strong work ethic, leadership and technical skills.
“These job fairs are part of our effort to help America’s servicemen and women transition back to civilian life when their tours of duty end and are an excellent opportunity for employers looking for great workers,” she said in the announcement.
A representative from the U.S. Department of Labor estimates 450 to 800 veterans will attend.
Companies participating in the San Diego job fair include Apex Systems, Ashford University, Blackwater Worldwide, Boston Scientific, City of Los Angeles, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Cuyamaca College, Federal Aviation Administration, GE Energy Services, Health Net, MatchPoint Franchise Consulting Network, Prudential Financial, Raytheon, The Dwyer Group, U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
