Jazzercise Founder Earns National Honor

Judi Sheppard Missett, founder, president and chief executive officer of dance-fitness company Jazzercise, received one of the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Awards from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports on Aug. 5 in Chicago.

The award is given to individuals based on their involvement in the advancement or promotion of physical activity, fitness or sports in the United States. Aerobics founder Dr. Ken Cooper, TV fitness pioneer Jack LaLanne, bodybuilder Joe Weider, conditioning advocate and researcher Bonnie Prudden and philanthropist Bud Seretean were among the other recipients of the award.
