BAE Systems North America has reached an agreement to buy Lockheed Martin’s Aerospace Electronics Systems businesses.
The impact of the $1.67 billion deal on BAE’s Rancho Bernardo facility is unclear, said Percy Myers, head of community relations with the local BAE Systems office.
The Rancho Bernardo unit was formerly known as Marconi Integrated Systems. It is the former electronics division of General Dynamics.
Lockheed Martin Aerospace Electronics Systems comprises the Sanders, Fairchild Systems and Space Electronics & Communications businesses, according to a statement distributed by Sanders. Principal facilities are in New Hampshire, New York and Virginia.
BAE Systems North America is a Delaware corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems plc of Farnborough, England.
