Imaging Co. Encouraged By Equipment Purchases in Japan

San Diego-based 4-D Neuroimaging said it received an order for its imaging machine by the Hirosaki University School of Medicine in Hirosaki, Japan.

A 4-D official said he is pleased to see the imaging system , a machine that helps diagnose medical problems by measuring the magnetic fields in the human brain and body , has made its way into 22 Japanese institutions.

“Receiving this order from Hirosaki University following the recent order from Akita University demonstrates increasing acceptance of MSI technology in Japan,” said D. Scott Buchanan, president and CEO of 4-D.

The machine sells between $1 million and $2.5 million, said Aron Stern, chief financial officer at 4-D.

Stern said the public company reported $3.3 million in sales for the fiscal year ended September 1999. Company stock is being traded over-the-counter.
