Drivers again have a straight shot down Harbor Drive past the San Diego Convention Center.
A single lane in either direction between First and Fifth avenues was opened Monday, the San Diego Convention Center Corp. announced. All four lanes of the street are to be open by Monday, June 26.
Convention Center officials noted the street opening was 1 & #733; months ahead of schedule.
The street had been closed for a year to accommodate the convention center expansion project. Crews have been lowering the street nine feet to clear a new entrance for the center parking garage.
Officials said they expect to reach two other construction milestones during May. The $10 million revamp of the Sails Pavilion is scheduled for completion May 17, while a topping-out ceremony, placing the final piece of steel for the expansion, is set for May 31.
