Members of Congregation Beth Israel , San Diego’s oldest and largest Jewish congregation , celebrated the groundbreaking for its new $15 million sanctuary, school and multi-use facility in San Diego’s Golden Triangle on Jan. 9. The 61,000-square-foot facility was designed by the San Diego architectural firm Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle, whose principals Douglas H. Austin and Randy S. Robbins, toured Israel and the city of Jerusalem to research historic and contemporary Jewish sites while developing their design plan. Development team members include Gafcon, Inc., construction managers; Lusardi Construction Co., general contractor; and Spurlock-Poirier, landscape architect.
