Governor Wants Chalker to Reprise Role on Commission

John Chalker of San Diego has been appointed to the California Transportation Commission by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Chalker, 56, has served on the commission since 2005, and currently is managing director for LM Capital Group.

He worked for Merrill Lynch from 1980 to 1995, ending his tenure as vice president and senior financial consultant.

From 1972 to 1979, Chalker, a Republican, served in the U.S. Navy as a carrier-based attack pilot. He is a member of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego World Trade Center.

The appointment, which takes effect on March 1, requires Senate confirmation and pays $100 per diem.
