Mojopages is live.
The Web site, mojopages.com, serves as part business telephone directory, part business rating service and part community bulletin board, or blog. The company officially launched its beta version Feb. 21.
Southern California is the first region to be served by the site. A company spokesman characterized San Diego as the first city in a nationwide rollout.
Mojopages is the work of Del Mar resident Jon Carder and a staff of four. Carder sold a previous Web business, Client Shop, to Los Angeles-based Internet Brands in February 2006 for an undisclosed, seven-figure sum. Client Shop, which linked mortgage providers with customers, was the No. 1 company on the San Diego Business Journal’s list of fastest growing private companies in 2005.
Mojopages has been compared to Yelp.com of San Francisco. The local company’s founders say their site has a lot in common with the Yellow Pages, while also offering the insight of a neighbor’s referral.
