Encinitas Planners Send Pacific Station Project Back to Developer

Pacific Station, a proposed $20 million commercial and residential project in Encinitas that would be anchored by a Whole Foods Market, has been sent back to the developer by the city’s planning commissioners to address concerns about the project’s parking garage exit lanes.

Design plans call for two three-story buildings, which include a two-story restaurant and two levels of underground parking on a 1.4-acre lot between E and F streets in downtown Encinitas. The project would also feature 47 condominiums.

Planning commissioners held up the project at their last meeting April 3 because of a narrow exodus from the 249-space parking garage that would feed onto F Street, says Senior Project Manager Kerry Kusiak of the Encinitas Planning and Building Department.

Developer John DeWald, who can bring the project back up at the April 17 meeting, also plans to add 50,000 cubic yards of sand to Ponto Beach to make up for sand displaced by two parking levels.
