The American Society of Training and Development will mark Dec. 4-8 as Employee Learning Week. The society has set aside the week to increase awareness about the value of learning and its impact on an organization’s bottom line.
The society, based in Alexandria, Va., bills itself as the world’s largest association dedicated to workplace learning and performance professionals. It was founded in 1944. The society offers a credential program for the certified professional in learning and performance.
Phillip Tanzilo, president of the society’s San Diego chapter, reports that the local chapter has “made huge strides this year” and is on track to add 120 people, boosting membership to about 500. What’s more, the national organization chose the San Diego chapter out of its 140 chapters to be chapter of the month for July 2006.
Tanzilo is manager for training and development at Welk Resorts.
